Handy Guidelines for Onewheel Maintenance

The Onewheels are unquestionably well made and durable, but like any other mode of transportation, they require some maintenance on a regular or more frequent basis. Your Onewheel Pint X and Onewheel XR are designed to provide countless kilometres of riding enjoyment, but routine maintenance will let them function at their peak.

This article provides some basic maintenance tips to help you keep your Onewheel Pint X in the best shape.

1 – Cleaning the Onewheel

Cleaning the board has two purposes: to keep it clean and to lessen the wear on select particular components. The Onewheel Pint X must be kept dry because it is not waterproof. After a ride, wipe the board down with a moist cloth rather than hose it down.

Compressed air can be used as another successful technique. If you have access to an air compressor, you can use it, or you may get it in tins from a store or online.

Initially, blast any debris from the charge port before covering it and the power button with tape. After removing any mud or loose material with a stiff, dry brush, blow any remaining debris away from every component of your board with compressed air.

2 – Tire pressure

You must maintain the ideal tire pressure because the tire on your Onewheel XR is essential to a great ride. To maintain your tire’s pressure at 20 PSI or 1.4 bar, use an air compressor and a digital pressure gauge (they are more accurate than a non-digital one).

After your final ride of the day, check your tire carefully. Before putting it away for the night, check for cuts in the sidewall or tread. Brush it down with a dry brush if it needs to be cleaned.

3 – Replace the grip tape

The grip tape is one of the components on your board that will deteriorate, along with the tires. As dirt and the wear from your shoes cause them to deteriorate, they will eventually lose their grip. Cleaning it can help you regain some grip, but eventually, you’ll need to replace it.

The best method for removing the present grip tape is to use a hairdryer. As the sensor is underneath, this is a delicate process on the front footpad. Peel the sensor away from one deck edge while gradually heating it. As the sensor is easily damaged, you should proceed with caution. Take time and delicately separate the grip tape from the pad using your finger.

Applying the new grip tape is the last step. Spread it out and pull it down gradually.
